Our Holiday Cottage

Our 78m² detached holiday house is steeped in history: built around 1900 it was the home of the village smithy before being the home of a clock maker. The outbuildings were used later as a milking parlour. In 2003 the house was tastefully renovated and sanitised keeping the authentic charm of the building intact.

On the ground floor there is a fully-equipped kitchen/diner including a ceramic hob cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, toaster and microwave oven and is completed by a seating/dining area for up to 6 people. The adjoining living room, with its ceramic wood stove, polished wood furniture and sofa suite, form an inviting location in which the family can be entertained by a UHD flat-screen TV with BluRay/DVD player and an assortment of games. Also on the ground floor is the first bedroom fitted with a single bed and bunk bed. The second bedroom, with a twin-mattress double bed and single bed is upstairs. This upstairs bedroom also has a UHD flat-screen TV installed.

A patio is easily reached from the house or through the garage and offers a sheltered and secluded outside area in which to dine. Suitable cushioned seating, table and sun-umbrella are stored in an adjoining outbuilding that was once the clock-maker’s workshop.

Off-street parking is provided in the form of a garage and/or hard-standing at the rear of the house. Access to the main house door is then through the garage or by walking around the corner past “Rokweiler” the village shop, which stocks fresh bread and all that is needed for day-to-day living. In Meßkirch, just 13 minutes by car from the house, one will find all the main supermarkets.

The house is heated in winter by a very efficient wood-burning ceramic stove – wood is provided and stored in the forge outhouse, which is accessible through the garage. Or, if preferred, by efficient modern electric radiators. Water for the bathroom is heated electrically and stored in a wall-mounted immersion heater.
